Hyundai continues to rise as industry starts to turn 07 July 2009 Hyundai New Zealand has once again posted exceptional sales results in a market that is slowly starting to turn. Hyundai easily held their third place position in passenger vehicle sales with a 9.2 percent share of the market for June and a mere three vehicles separating them from Ford in second place. Hyundai was fourth equal with Mazda in the total vehicle market for June and continues to hold fifth place overall with 7.43 percent of the market share YTD totaling 2,533 sales all up. "Our sales results have continued to buck the trend with this being another consecutive month of growth." Said Philip Eustace, Hyundai New Zealand Executive Director. "New car registrations have risen for the second month running so the industry is starting to feel a bit of a reprieve in what has been a very challenging year. However it is still business as usual with us and we'll be interested to see whether this is a temporary rise or a sign that the industry is through the worst." Hyundai's top selling model for June was the Tucson with 129 vehicles sold, followed by the award winning i30 with 114 between the hatch and wagon models and in third place New Zealand's most fuel efficient SUV*, the Santa Fe.Across the ditch, Hyundai Motor Company Australia are celebrating their best ever monthly sales result selling 7,862 vehicles and achieving a 7.6 percent market share in an industry that was down 16.1 percent for the month of June. As in New Zealand they hold a strong fifth place overall in YTD sales. Hyundai Motor Company posteda 9.6 percent rise in global sales compared to a year earlier, in a world market that has continued to see sharp sales declines.*Results from the 2009 AA Energywise Rally For further information, please contact Nicky Clarke, 021 855 978, nclarke@hyundai.co.nz
